Kristina, Your Host
Hey there!
I’m Kristina Crosbie a Canadian mortgage agent of 15 years, a mom of three, and the founder of Broker Life Socials.
I’ve been in this industry long enough to see what really moves the needle for mortgage brokers… and what keeps them stuck.
I started my career in underwriting at Genworth (now Sagen), worked my way into full-time brokering, and eventually built a second business helping brokers with the piece most of us struggle with; staying visible, consistent, and connected to the people who need us.
Over the years, I’ve learned that success in this industry isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing the right things… with confidence, simplicity, and support.
Inside this podcast, I bring everything I’ve learned from:
• funding thousands of files
• coaching overwhelmed brokers
• running Broker Life Socials
• building email lists, automations, funnels, and content that actually converts
• and juggling real life at the same time, school drop-offs, hockey rinks, and everything in between.
My goal?
To help you show up with more clarity, more confidence, and more freedom… without burning out or feeling like you need to be everywhere at once.
If you’re a mortgage broker who wants simple, doable marketing that actually grows your business you’re in the right place.
And I’m so glad you’re here.

Why Work With Me (and Broker Life Socials)
I’ve been in the Canadian mortgage space since 2005.
I started at Genworth Financial Canada, working inside the default insurer side of the industry for five years.
Then in August 2010, I became a licensed mortgage agent… and I’ve been in it ever since.
I’ve seen this business from every angle.
Underwriting. Broker side. Real client conversations. Real files.
And here’s why that matters
Marketing in this industry isn’t just about “posting consistently.”
It’s about understanding:
• how mortgage clients actually think
• what they’re worried about (but not saying)
• how to explain complex scenarios in a way that builds trust
That’s not something you can outsource to a generic marketing company.
Because if they’ve never:
• structured a deal
• explained a refinance
• walked a client through a tough approval
…they don’t truly understand your client.
Inside Broker Life Socials, everything is written by someone who lives and breathes this industry.
So your content doesn’t just “look good”…
It actually connects, builds trust, and converts.
Work with Me
Inside Broker Life Socials, you can choose what fits your season of business:
• Done for you social media content
• Plug and play email marketing
• Group coaching inside the Collective
• 1:1 custom content support
Simple. Consistent. Repeatable.

Welcome back to the Mortgage Marketing Made Simple podcast. I'm your host, Christina Crosby. If you're new here, welcome. If you've been listening for a while, thank you so much for being here. Today's episode might make you a little uncomfortable, and honestly, I really hope it does. Because sometimes the truth is uncomfortable. So let me ask you a question. Are you actually giving your business a chance to grow? Or are you quitting before it has even had the opportunity to take off? And I work with a lot of mortgage workers every single day. And I see this all the time. Brokers tell me social media doesn't work. They tell me email marketing doesn't work. No one engages with their posts. Nobody comments or likes anything. And not to ruffle any feathers, but you're looking at the wrong numbers. Likes don't fund mortgages, and comments don't pay your bills. Vanity metrics mean very little. What matters are conversions. The DMs you get, the phone calls, applications, funded files, broker complete emails, relationships. I could go on and on. I get DMs almost every single day, multiple. And do you know why? None of my posts have gone viral. It's because I show up consistently for years. People see me, they remember me. Then one day their mortgage is coming up for renewal, their credit cards are maxed, cash flows tight, and they need to consolidate debt. Or they want to buy their first home, and who do they think of first? The person they've been seeing over and over and over again. Visibility wins every single time. And another harsh truth: some people, or how do I say this now? Some of the people who need your help the most are never going to like your posts. Think about refinancing for a second. I talk about debt, I talk about credit cards, I talk a lot about cash flow. Do you really think someone whose credit cards are maxed out wants to publicly like that post? Some might not. They might feel embarrassed. And this isn't everybody, but some people, not everyone is the same, right? So some people might feel embarrassed or if they'd like that post, that someone will think all of their credit trades are maxed. So they might not want their friends seeing that they interacted with that post, but they'll save it, they'll remember it, they'll screenshot it, and they will send you a DM. And that is why, in the space that we are in, in the mortgage space, in the Canadian mortgage space, you cannot judge your marketing based on likes. You have no idea who's watching, and people are always watching. They're just not always interacting. Now I want to talk about the excuse I hear the most, which is I don't have time. You do have time. You just aren't spending it on the things that move your business forward. Am I being harsh? Possibly. Is it true? Absolutely. Go check your screen time. Every Sunday I get that notification. I'm sure you do too. How much time did you spend scrolling today? How much time did you spend watching random videos, reading comments, looking at what everyone else is doing? Now imagine if just 10 minutes of that time went towards your own business instead. Yes, 10 minutes. That is all I'm talking about. I'm not asking you to spend three hours creating content. I don't. I post three times a day. Two business posts, one personal. The two business posts take me a minute or two because they're already written through me through my social media membership at Broker Life Socials. And my personal post, it's real life. A ring from the a picture from the rink, picture from the soccer pitch, a picture while wait working in the dance studio, waiting for class to finish, a selfie. That's it. It's nothing fancy, it's not edited. Yes, I might show up show up with the Paris filter on because it might have been a day. Um, but that is it. Nothing fancy, nothing perfectly edited, just showing up with my people in my life. Now there's a huge, I don't know if huge is the right word, but there's kind of a movement, not a movement, what is the word? It's Friday. Um, my brain's not working. But people right now aren't connecting with perfection. There was a time that was all over our all over our feeds, everything perfectly curated. But right now, and I talk about this last week and the week before, people are questioning, questioning if a post, even the copywriting, the graphic, the image, if that is real or if it's AI. So I'm obsessed with this. I love it because my stuff is so raw, so unedited, even this podcast, I've already stumbled on my words multiple times, but I'm not fixing it because that builds trust, and you know I'm not using AI to make this. You know, this is me talking directly to you. So remember that people don't connect with perfection, they connect with people. Potential clients want to know you're a real person, you know. So for me, a lot of my target area with my broker life socials, so my marketing specifically for mortgage brokers and agents, I work with a lot of moms. I want to be relatable. I know a lot of moms are running from one activity to the next, from the office to school pickup to an activity for their kids. So I am relatable by those posts that I make of my personal life sitting in that arena, waiting outside a dance, working from my computer in my car. Like that is real life, that is behind the scenes, and that is what people remember. And here's something else that people don't understand, I find, is that marketing compounds. One post is not gonna change your business. One email doesn't change your business. I just did a social media post as I say that. I did a social media post yesterday about how one email can change your business, and now I'm in here on the pod saying that one email can't change your business. Um, but I actually do think that one email could change your business. But is that the norm? No. Hundreds of posts, 52 emails a year, an email every single week to your email list, to your database, that can change everything. One post can lead to one conversation. That one conversation leads to an application, and before you know it, that becomes a broker-complete email. That client tells their family, their coworker, neighbor, and that is the ripple effect. And I find most brokers never experience that ripple effect because they quit before that first ripple has even started. They post consistently for three weeks, maybe a month, and then they stop. Because nobody liked their post, nobody, nobody commented. You know, because the conviction themselves it wasn't working. I said that wrong. I said conviction when I wanted to say convinced. So what I mean by that is I backtrack on my words, is you convinced yourself that this isn't gonna work before you even started posting, and you gave it a try, and then you threw in the towel. Um, now it was working. You just stopped before people had the chance to remember your name. You have to stop expecting overnight results. Think about the bigger names in our industry. Do you think they became well known because of one Facebook post? Of course not. They showed up again and again and again until people couldn't forget them. Visibility isn't about going viral, it's be about becoming familiar. People trust what's familiar. Now, let's get into the investment of it all because I hear this one too. I can't afford marketing. Are you kidding me? Really? Let's do some quick math. Our 20 post package at Broker Life Socials is currently $2.44 a month. On September 1st, it's increasing to $3.47 a month. If you've been thinking about joining now, now is the time because you're grandfathered in at that $244. And when we break it down at today's price of $244 a month, that's about $8 a day. $8. I have a feeling you might spend more than that on a drive through breakfast and coffee on the way to lunch, on the way to lunch, on the way to the office. You know, or snacks you didn't plan on buying that day. Um, same with our weekly email membership. It's $147 a month. That works out less than $5 a day. Four emails are written for you and a blog post every single month. You just put them into your CRM and send them. So roughly for $13 a day, you can consistently show up on social media and in your clients' inboxes. People will spend more on things that disappear in five minutes, but hesitate to invest in something that can grow their business for years. That doesn't make sense. Visibility is absolutely an investment, not an expense. And here's the bigger truth I want to leave you with today. You're probably closer than you think. You're probably one year away from a completely different business. One year, not one month, not six weeks, but one year. Imagine where your business would be, how many clients' lives you would have changed, and your own life for your family, your kids, if you commit to one year of showing up on social media and your clients' inbox, socials every day, at least six days a week, and one email every single week for an entire year. How many people in your community or online would know your name? How many more conversations would you have? How many more applications, funded files? You do not need to be the smartest broker. I'm definitely not, okay? I do not have fancy videos. I don't have thousands of followers. You simply need to be remembered. Because when someone needs a mortgage agent or broker, they don't scroll back 12 months trying to find one. They think of the person they've been seeing consistently. And I want you, my friend, to be that broker, to be that person. So here's my challenge for you. Promise yourself one thing. One year. Give yourself one full year of showing up every single day, emailing your database every single week. Stop judging your success by likes. Start measuring conversations, measuring relationships, and trust. And if creating content is the thing that's stopping you, that's exactly why I built Broker Life Socials. I wanted to help my fellow agents and brokers because remember, I'm in this space. I work on files every single day just like you. I know how hard it is. We walk into the office, think we're gonna have a nice, easy day, and it turns into a fire. I wanted to make consistency simple for you. Because consistency changes your business, not perfection. Thank you so much for listening. If this episode hit home, I would love for you to share it with another broker or entrepreneur who needs to hear this. And until next week, please keep showing up. Please keep serving your clients. And remember visibility isn't the goal, being remembered is.
