Kristina, Your Host
Hey there!
I’m Kristina Crosbie a Canadian mortgage agent of 15 years, a mom of three, and the founder of Broker Life Socials.
I’ve been in this industry long enough to see what really moves the needle for mortgage brokers… and what keeps them stuck.
I started my career in underwriting at Genworth (now Sagen), worked my way into full-time brokering, and eventually built a second business helping brokers with the piece most of us struggle with; staying visible, consistent, and connected to the people who need us.
Over the years, I’ve learned that success in this industry isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing the right things… with confidence, simplicity, and support.
Inside this podcast, I bring everything I’ve learned from:
• funding thousands of files
• coaching overwhelmed brokers
• running Broker Life Socials
• building email lists, automations, funnels, and content that actually converts
• and juggling real life at the same time, school drop-offs, hockey rinks, and everything in between.
My goal?
To help you show up with more clarity, more confidence, and more freedom… without burning out or feeling like you need to be everywhere at once.
If you’re a mortgage broker who wants simple, doable marketing that actually grows your business you’re in the right place.
And I’m so glad you’re here.

How Investing in Myself Has Never Been a Gamble
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
You’ve probably said it before…
“Is this really worth it?”
“What if it doesn’t work?”
But what if you’ve been asking the wrong question the whole time?
In this episode, I’m sharing a perspective that completely changed how I make decisions in my business… and why some of my biggest growth didn’t come from strategy at all.
If you’ve been circling the same ideas, waiting to feel ready, or wondering what the “right next step” is…
This might be the shift you didn’t know you needed.

Why Work With Me (and Broker Life Socials)
I’ve been in the Canadian mortgage space since 2005.
I started at Genworth Financial Canada, working inside the default insurer side of the industry for five years.
Then in August 2010, I became a licensed mortgage agent… and I’ve been in it ever since.
I’ve seen this business from every angle.
Underwriting. Broker side. Real client conversations. Real files.
And here’s why that matters
Marketing in this industry isn’t just about “posting consistently.”
It’s about understanding:
• how mortgage clients actually think
• what they’re worried about (but not saying)
• how to explain complex scenarios in a way that builds trust
That’s not something you can outsource to a generic marketing company.
Because if they’ve never:
• structured a deal
• explained a refinance
• walked a client through a tough approval
…they don’t truly understand your client.
Inside Broker Life Socials, everything is written by someone who lives and breathes this industry.
So your content doesn’t just “look good”…
It actually connects, builds trust, and converts.
Work with Me
Inside Broker Life Socials, you can choose what fits your season of business:
• Done for you social media content
• Plug and play email marketing
• Group coaching inside the Collective
• 1:1 custom content support
Simple. Consistent. Repeatable.

Welcome back to another episode of Mortgage Marketing Made Simple. I'm your host, Christina Crosby. I am sick today with a cold, so listen to this at two times the speed, and you won't have to listen to my sick voice. So let's just jump right in. Today's episode is not going to be a light one, and we're going to talk about how investing in myself has never been a gamble. Okay, so I'm going to say that one more time. How investing in myself has never been a gamble. Today's not gonna be a light episode. Like I said, this is one of those episodes where if you're meant to hear it, you're going to really feel it. Because I want to talk about something that has completely changed my business and honestly my life. So it's life-changing. And that is investing in myself has never been a gamble, a gamble, not once. And I know for some of you listening, that might feel like a stretch because you're sitting there thinking, I don't know if this will work for me. I don't know if I'll actually follow through. I don't know if I have the time. But what I want to do today is to shift how you see this completely. So first off, let's call out what is actually happening. When you say to yourself, is this worth it? Will it work? What you're really asking is, do I trust myself to show up? That is the absolute real question. It's not the program, it's not the mentorship, it's not the strategy. And this is where most people stay stuck because they're trying to solve, I don't know, like a self-trust problem with more information. And more information is not the answer. You don't need another free training, another saved uh post, another saved podcast idea. You need a decision. And let me just take you back for a second. I've been in this great industry of ours, the Canadian mortgage space since 2005. I've seen busy markets, slow markets, rate increases, uncertainty, and at times absolute chaos. And here is what I know to be true. The people who grow are not the ones who know the most. They're the ones who decide faster, move faster, and put themselves in rooms that require more of them. This is where investing comes in. Because every time I've invested in myself, it forced me to a new standard. Not a new idea, a new standard. Where showing up wasn't optional, consistency wasn't negotiable, action wasn't something I felt like doing. And that is why it has never been a gamble. So let's talk about what happens when you don't invest, because I think this matters. You stay in the same cycle, you think about posting, but you don't actually post. You think about emailing, but you don't actually send that email out. You think about showing up, but you wait. And at the end of the week, you feel busy but not productive, and nothing actually moved forward. That cycle is expensive, and not in money, but in missed opportunities, lost visibility, clients who went somewhere else, confidence that slowly chips away. And this is the part I really need you to hear. Staying where you are is not neutral. It's costing you. So now let's flip this. Every time I invested in myself, here's what actually happened. I showed up when I didn't feel like it. I followed through. I normally wouldn't. I stopped overthinking. I made decisions faster. And those actions, that's what created the results. So here's my first takeaway. Investing works because it changes your behavior. And now let's go deeper on that. There are two versions of you in your business: the one who knows what to do and the one who actually does it. Now, takeaway number two. Your results are sitting in the gap between knowing and doing. Let's talk about environment. You do not rise your goals to your goals. You rise to your environment. And number three takeaway is your environment determines your consistency. Now, let me layer something in here that's super important. Because this is real life for me right now. The podcast you're listening to right now, the blog that I started a few months ago, the consistency you're seeing from me, I don't know if I would have done this if I didn't have mentorship. And I want to be honest about that. Would I have eventually done it? Maybe. Would I have started the pod? Maybe. Would I have started the blog? Maybe. But I wouldn't have done it as fast as I did. And would I have stuck with it? I don't know. Would I have shown up consistently? I don't think so. And that matters because right now, those two things alone, my podcast and my blog, are bringing me visibility, attention, connection, opportunities. And that ripple effect, that doesn't happen when you're thinking about doing something. It happens when you actually do it. Now the fourth takeaway I want to talk about is how execution creates visibility, not ideas. Now, when we talk about speed, because this is where mentorship can change everything. When you work with someone who is already where you want to be, you collapse time. Instead of guessing, trying things, stopping and starting, you get direction, feedback, accountability, support. And you move faster. And I've definitely lived on both sides of this. I've spent years figuring things out on my own. Years. Okay, years. And then I've had seasons where I've said I'm not doing this alone anymore. And the difference in speed, or and the difference is speed. Now, takeaway number five: mentorship doesn't just give results, it gives you results faster. A real life example: I have a friend and she paid a few thousand dollars for one hour of someone's time. And that person told her, this will probably take you about three months to implement. And she said, No, like it's not gonna take me three months because she had invested that money and she wasn't going to sit on it, she wasn't going to wait, she moved, and she moved fast. And instead of taking three months, she got it done in six weeks. And that is what happens when you invest. Because now there's urgency, there's commitment, there's skin in the game, and that same information, if that same information was free, it would sit. You'd save it, you would think about it, maybe come back to it, but you wouldn't move the same way as when something's paid. Now, number six here, when you invest, you activate on a different level of action, like we just talked about. So let's bring this back to me for a second because I've been thinking so much about this lately, and I don't know if I would have started the collective, um, created a mastermind, raised my prices, done masterclasses without mentorship. Would I have eventually? Maybe. But I did it, but I did it and I did it faster. Absolutely. Did I go all in? Yes. Did I feel supported while doing it? Yes. And that, my friend, can change everything because here's something no one talks about enough. When you're in the right room, you don't just get strategy, you get belief, and sometimes that belief comes from your mentor before it really fully comes from you. Now, takeaway number seven: borrowed belief can carry you until your own catches up. And that is so powerful because instead of questioning everything and doubting every move, you're making decisions from the place of I know this is the direction I'm going. And that builds confidence faster, not years from now, but now. So let's bring all of this together. If you're still listening to this and you've been thinking about showing up more consistently, wanting to build visibility, wanting more consistency, wanting more clients. This is not a strategy problem. It's a support, it's an environment, it's a decision problem. And I'm going to say this very clear. You can spend years figuring this out on your own, like I did. Or you can get support and you can get to where you want to be faster. And that's the exact reason why I created the broker growth collective. That's exactly why it exists in this room where you show up weekly, you execute, you stop overthinking, you build visibility, you get support, accountability, mentoring, um, and people doing it alongside with you. The next round of the Broker Growth Collective is coming up in less than a month. And if this episode hit, if you felt that pull, that's not random, that's you recognizing you're ready for more. If you take nothing else from today's show, I want you to take this. You are not a gamble, but staying where you are, that is. I would love to have you come join us inside the broker growth collective. I'll link the info in the show notes. And I'll talk to you in the next episode.
